Accra is the Sports City of Africa for the Next 3 years – Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Ghana’s Minister of Sports

The enchanting destination Accra, the nerve center of Ghana has been selected as the Sports City of Africa for the next three years by the African Union and the continental sporting confederations.
This was disclosed by Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports, Republic of Ghana in an exclusive interview with Kalo Africa News’ -SPORTS DESTINATION in Accra yesterday.
“The good news is that Accra, Ghana has been selected as the City of Sports in Africa for 2024, 2025 and 2026 until 2027, Egypt will take over because the next African Games will be held in Egypt, until Egypt takes over, Accra is the African sports city for the continent”.
“So far, we have received a lot of proposals from and requests from individual Confederation wanting to use these facilities for African championships, once we finish the games we are going to coonsider these applications and make sure they are ustilised”, the Minister said.
When inquired about his impression so far on the deliverables of the hosting vis-vis the performance of Ghana, he described as excellent having seen the great performances of team Ghana so far, he expressed his satisfaction.
“The impression is excellent, we are super excited that we are hosting the entire African continental in Accra , we are excited”. “And as you can see our male and female footballers have qualified for the next stages, so we are super excited”.
On the issue of maintenance of the facilities, the Minister said all arrangements have been concluded with some facility managers who would be deployed immediately after the tournament, submitting that the facilities must be preserved for the nation and the continent.
“Infact we have maintenance facility managers that are going to be put in place immediately after these games who will position all these facilities.
“Intact we are going to protect these facilities, not for Ghanaians alone but for the entire West African sub-region and the continent”, he further said.
Hon. Ussif alone informed that Athletes could visit Accra from any part of Africa and use the facilities for training and for any kind of championships.
On a personal level, l was able to visit all these facilities at Boate Man and the University of Legon Stadium, and l can boldly say that Ghana has really kept it promises of providing the best of state-of-the-art facilities for this championship and best of equipment. Little wonder Accra received such a huge accolades from the African Union and its partners.
This is suffice to position destination Ghana is a sui-generis among its pairs in the arena of sports destination, giving kudos to Hon. Mustapha Ussif, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, President Republic of Ghana and to the entire Ghanaians for making Accra a peaceful atmosphere to host the continent.
