Vodun Days: Artists Arrive Cotonou as Government Provides Free Buses for Citizens to Attend the Festival in Ouidah

As the much publicised Vodun Days draws closer, the globally invited, artists, guests and Afro-Diasporans have started to arrive Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin to be a part of Vodun Days festivities, the most prestigious celebration of arts, culture and spiritualism in Africa.

The event which used to be known as Vodun Festival has been on for more than thirty years is scheduled to take place between January 9th and 10th, 2024 in the enchanting coastal city of Ouidah.

Great names from all over the world have have been setting their feet on Beninese soil since yesterday, hence turning the lounge of honor at the Cardinal Bernardin Gantin International Airport in Cotonou to another bee-hive of a sort.

Just last night, around 11:25 p.m., the artist, Laura Prince touched down at the airport for her show tagged “Vodun & Jazz” which will happen today, January 6, 2024 at the Cultural Center of International Meeting ( CCRI) John SMITH, Ouidah at 8 p.m. sharp, a show registered as a side-event at Vodun Days.

Additionally, as part of the Vodun Days festivities, on January 9 and 10, 2024 in Ouidah, the government of Benin is offering free round-trip travel for those willing to experience this beautiful commemoration of Beninese culture.

We have made buses available so that those who wish to participate in this celebration can travel. It is free, buses with 50, 54 seats and 30 seats which will leave from the Palais des Congrès and the Stade Général Mathieu Kérékou. Departure is scheduled between 9 a.m. and noon in the morning and between 2 and 5 p.m. in the afternoon, and return will be at 4 p.m. and late evening”, said William CODJO, General Director ADAC Bénin.
