Araromi Beachfront, Ondo State Declared Nigeria’s Choicest “Tourism Zone” in Partnership with La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort

The Executive Governor of Ondo State, South West Nigeria Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is poised at making Araromi a rural beachfront in Ondo State, the choicest tourism destination in Africa as he declared the community a Tourism Zone in partnership with Nigeria’s foremost beachfront management company, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort Ltd. owned by the tourism entrepreneur, Otunba Wanle Akinboboye.

The governor pronounced the community’s beachfront a Tourism Zone while engaging Akinboboye in a strategic discussion in Akure, the state capital, yesterday.

“We have reached an agreement to declare our waterfronts or shores, where we have a lot of advantages in the country, a Tourism Zone,” he said.

Governor Akeredolu’s decision to declare Araromi beachfront a Tourism Zone was hinged on the huge tourism potential prevalent in the state and he believed its time and urgent as well to tap into all the opportunities that tourism could offer the state as the world recovers from Covid-19 pandemic with the hope of reaping from the boom that the tourism sector would provide thereby rivaling other global tourism destinations.

La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort Ltd. would provide the technical support that would see to the transformation of the rustic enclave into one of the best tourist destinations in Africa when the project becomes operational.

Akinboboye appreciated the governor’s strategic plans and the prompt declaration which would further change the narratives in the state especially in the tourism sector, assuring him of his organization’s willingness and desire to partner the state in developing and ensuring that the state gets its full potential in the sector for the benefit of the citizens in the areas of job creation and general development by attracting global tourists into the state and the country at large in comparison with other top notch touristic destinations like Dubai, Paris and London.

“Ondo State has limitless potential that can beat any beachfront community in the world. I am sure you are aware that there are 840 kilometres of beachfront in Nigeria across six states Ondo State has the longest, with almost 200 kilometres of it. The entire Dubai has a total of 70 kilometres of beachfront; they welcome over 15.9 million visitors every year. Just imagine if they spend a thousand dollars, multiply by 15.9 million people. This is what the Governor wants to replicate, to bring the entire world here”.

“We have the richest ocean, because of limited operations of trolleys, so our sea is extremely rich with different species of fish, prawns and the entire tourism activities that we believe very strongly will not only attract just Nigerians but Africans in Diaspora. Hence, a declaration like this will attract the world to that area for business opportunities”, Akinboboye said.

In attendance at the discussion were the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wale Akinlosotu; and the Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Dare Aragbaye as well as La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort’s team.

It is expected that with this declaration, Araromi will soon become another added advantage to the tourism economic development, a bold step in Nigeria which would form part of the projects that are geared towards developing Africa as the foremost tourism destination in the world.
